Typhoon 22 (Haima)–Effects on Zamami Travel Possible

The 22nd typhoon of the year, Haima, is forecast to travel toward the west in the ocean south of Okinawa Prefecture.  While Okinawa will most likely not enter the typhoon’s “storm warning area,” the typhoon’s effects on ocean currents and waves will be reflected by ferry cancellations among the prefecture’s many outer-island municipalities.  Those planning to travel to Zamami Village or elsewhere in Okinawa are recommended to verify the situation in advance.  Among contacting one’s accommodations, it is recommended that travellers confirm their airline’s regulations regarding cancellation of public transportation, weather forecasts, wave forecasts, and the general news.  Please visit the following webpage for information about typhoons and their effects on travel to and from Zamami Village.
