After an enjoyable reprieve, the typhoons are back. Typhoon 24 is heading for the Philippines while Typhoon 25 currently looks like it will take a turn north toward mainland Japan. While the typhoons might not directly hit Zamami, they is a possibility that they will have an effect on the ferries.
When there is a typhoon, the waves get high and the ocean gets rough. When the waves get too high, the ferries stop. A typhoon does not have to be particularly close to Zamami for the ferries to stop if the waves are high.
The best course of action is to fully inform yourself before coming to Zamami by contacting your accommodations for advice and reading about the effects of typhoons on Zamami.
