Similar to the visit by the cruise ship Asuka in early December, the cruise ship “Nippon Maru” visited Zamami all the way from Yokohama this weekend.  Not to be confused with the museum sister ship of the Kaiwo Maru (which also visited Zamami), the Nippon Maru cruise ship is a member of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines–a cruise line and shipping operator in Japan.  The Nippon Maru dropped anchor between Zamami and Aka islands.  Passengers on the cruise were then ferried from the ship to either Zamami or Aka island for day-trip excursions such as diving, sight seeing, and glass-bottom boat tours.

The Nippon Maru has a fleet of these oddly shaped transport boats to ferry passengers from the cruise ship to their destination activities.
