Zamami Village will once again be holding it’s annual Whale Watching Music Festival on Mar. 28th starting at 17:30 in the Zamami Port. Zamami Village and the Whale Watching Association hold this yearly event to mark the ending of another successful whale watching season and to bid the whales a musical farewell as they head back to northern waters. Every year, the event features famous Okinawan musicians, with this year’s line up including Johnny Ginowan & WALEWALE, Shiori, and Ikuma Akira. The singer-songwriter / acoustic-tropical set will be emceed by the Okinawan comedy duo PuroPan7.
In addition to the professional entertainment on hand, the Aka-Geruma Whale Taiko Group will take the stage for a few songs. This year’s whale-watching season featured a photo and video contest, and the winners will be presented with their awards at the music festival. Multiple establishments in the village will have stalls set up and be selling delicious food and plenty of awamori Okinawan liquor. Be sure to reserve your ferry tickets over to Zamami in advance for one of the best events of the year!
